By John Murtagh

Although the results of yesterday’s election were not what we had hoped for, I want to thank everyone who helped and supported me in our campaign.

I love our city, and spoke out on the issues that matter because it was important to our city and our neighbors.

My family and I are grateful for all those who worked with us over the past year, and we appreciate your enthusiasm and confidence.

Thank you.

Rudy Giuliani endorses John Murtagh

November 2, 2011

By Citizens for Murtagh

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has endorsed John Murtagh in the hotly contested race for Mayor of Yonkers.

Rudy for Murtagh

“Yonkers faces some tough challenges,” said Giuliani, “That’s why you need a mayor like John Murtagh.”

Giuliani, a former federal prosecutor who sent many mobsters and corrupt politicians to jail, is widely credited with turning New York City around, and ushering in a new era of economic growth and public safety.

Giuliani continued, “John Murtagh has an impressive record of taking on the political establishment, fighting to lower taxes and spending, and improving Yonkers schools.”

Noting Murtagh’s record of political independence, Giuliani added, “Some of the old guard in Yonkers don’t like him, which is an even better reason to vote for John Murtagh.”

Murtagh said, “Rudy Giuliani represents the benchmark for what a Mayor should be, and I am delighted and honored to have his support and endorsement.”

Murtagh opened the new Campaign Headquarters after winning the Republican Primary in a landslide against two better-financed opponents.

“These next five weeks are important,” said Murtagh, “and will determine the kind of future Yonkers will have. This election is critical, and we owe it to our neighbors and families to win it.”

Murtagh’s HQ is located on McLean Avenue, just off Central Park Avenue, and will be the central location for volunteers and other campaign activities.

Rob Astorino endorses John Murtagh

September 28, 2011

By Citizens for Murtagh

Calling him “the one, the only real conservative in the race,” Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino today endorsed John Murtagh for Yonkers Mayor.

“John Murtagh is the kind of conservative reformer Yonkers needs,” said Astorino, who made the endorsement with Murtagh present at 11:30 AM today at Cook Field on Cook Avenue in Yonkers.

Astorino, who was elected in a major upset two years ago, added, “Taxpayers have cut corners and made sacrifices to get their families through the current economy, and they want a Mayor like John Murtagh, who will force city government to live within its means.”

Astorino applauded Murtagh for his pro-taxpayer record, noting, “John Murtagh set the right tone on day one as a city councilman when he refused a “free” city car. As Mayor, John Murtagh will bring commonsense solutions to the problems facing Yonkers. He’s tough, he’s fair, and he knows how to get things done. I look forward to working with him as your next mayor.”

By Citizens for Murtagh

With the Republican Primary less than 24 hours away,  more and more Republicans are joining John Murtagh’s campaign and endorsing him as the best choice to lead Yonkers during the next four years.

“John Murtagh is the kind of independent Mayor we need. I’m voting for him, and hope you will, too,” says former City Councilwoman Dee Barbato.

John Larkin, who succeeded Dee as Councilman, added, “John Murtagh is a solid conservative, and the best friend taxpayers have in Yonkers.”

Those sentiments were echoed by John Faso, former Republican-Conservative candidate for Governor, saying, “John is a conservative reformer in a city in desperate need of reform.”

Senator Marty Golden, author of New York State’s Defense of Marriage Act, noted that “John Murtagh is a powerful reformer with a record of standing up for taxpayers against special interests.”

Councilman Dennis Shepherd said, “John Murtagh is a tough, independent conservative. Just what Yonkers needs in our next Mayor.”

And Justin Tubiolo, a respected Ward Leader and Vice Chairman of the Yonkers Republican City Committee, said “John loves Yonkers and will be a Mayor for everyone. Republicans should unite behind him so we can win.”

Polls will be open from 6:00 AM until 9:00 PM Tuesday, and Murtagh urged voters to come out and make their voices heard.

On the Tenth Anniversary . . .

September 11, 2011

By John Murtagh

The evil of 9/11 will never be forgotten.

More importantly, the bravery and supreme sacrifice made by so many to help total strangers, will never, ever, be forgotten.

And that is what makes America so great.
